Across the Board: TASS

Welcome back to another Across the Board! This week we are featuring Andy Chuang, president of TASS (Taiwanese American Student Society). Andy is currently a junior at Steinhardt studying MCC. He would like to share with everyone:

“Come out to all the Asian American NYU cultural club events!”

Yes, everyone come out to the events! Now on to the interview.

Tell us about TASS’s vision:

TASS’s vision? Well our club is obviously a Taiwanese culture centered club and what we really want to do is let other people know about the Taiwanese culture.

What is your favorite thing about TASS?

Well the thing is working with my TASS e-board, it doesn’t really feel like work or some super official organization it feels like being with friends. We work really hard to bring everyone together and I really want all the members to enjoy the gatherings that we have.

Who is Andy Chuang:

Who am I? (Yes, who are you?). You are giving me an identity crisis. (Sorry :/) This adds to the next question but my dad always wanted me to live my life to the fullest and the most important part is to not only make sure you’re alright but that everyone around you is also having a good time. The things that are most important to you are the people around you. That’s one of the reasons why I joined TASS, I hope that as president I can make everybody happier and enjoy their college experience more.

Who is your role model?

My dad, although it’s never enough – he pushes me to become better.

What do you look forward to on a daily basis?

Lunch

If you could eat only one thing for the rest of your life what would it be?

There’s this Taiwanese breakfast food it’s called “Dan Bing”, essentially it’s an egg roll which is made with egg… how do i explain this? (Let the record show he was unsuccessful in describing it so here is a recipe for Dan Bing and it looks delicious!)

Describe your perfect bubble-tea:

For me? Can I minus the bubbles because bubbles aren’t really my thing? (I guess!!!) I just want green tea, less sugar, and on top a thick layer of milk foam.

You can only keep one sense what would it be?

Sight! This was the easiest question.

Who do you nominate next?

ACU

Thank you Andy for taking the time to speak with us and if you would like to learn more about TASS check out their website or their Facebook page! See you guys next time when we get to meet a member of ACU!
