2021 is a huge year for anime. Fans are anticipating the return of Eren Yeager and his final decision, the story of the mysterious student mentioned in Tokyo Jujutsu High, and what happens to Tanjiro after the Mugen Train Incident. Before the release of these coming anime, we are introduced to time traveling, superpowers and immortality in some famous anime this fall. Some of the anime are brand new and some are the sequels of the already famous ones, and anime fans are getting super hyped about these! Let’s take a look of some anime ending in Fall 2021 and starting in this coming winter.
Ending Fall Anime:
- Tokyo Revengers

First started airing on April 11 2021, Tokyo Revengers has become the most famous anime of the year. The manga of Tokyo Revengers reached 200 millions copies sold around the world, and had a live action movie based on it released in July. On Sept. 21, the season finale of Tokyo Revengers was released, and the 24 episode season came to an end.
The plot of the story revolves around gangs in Japan and time-traveling. In the beginning, the main character Hanagaki Takemichi discovered that his lover in middle school had died in an incident regarding conflicts within the Tokyo Manji Gang. On that same day somebody tried to push him in front of a train, for some reason resulting in his first time-travel. Takemichi went back exactly 12 years ago the same day. He realized that this ability may help him save his first love. With this realization, Takemichi vows to stop the Tokyo Manji Gang from forming into what it has become in the present timeline.
Tokyo Revengers, due to its manga style and good-looking characters, has attracted millions of female fans. However, it is also popular among male audiences because the characters’ friendships are genuine and the boys’ passion for their community is extremely moving. The manga is still updating, yet should come to an end soon, since Wakui Ken, the author, announced that the manga had entered the last arc in June this year. For those who haven’t started this anime, definitely do! And fingers crossed there will be season 2 for Tokyo Revengers!
2. To Your Eternity
To Your Eternity is an anime dedicated to every mortal who should experience death at one point in time. Through the adventures of Fushi, the immortal being who is the main character, we experience life-and-death situations, relationship-building, and sacrifices.
Fushi was once a white orb put into the world by a beholder. Having the power to transform, Fushi becomes a wolf, and then a young boy, who was the master of the wolf who died from an infected wound. He starts his journey in the world, consistently fighting enemies known as the “Nokkers,” who would always try to plunder Fushi’s multiple identities.
The anime has four arcs in the first season. Fushi set foot at four different places, and met and said goodbye to each of the characters. Keeping them in his heart, Fushi is able to transform into their physical appearances and utilize their abilities. Fushi grows old like a regular human and begins his newest adventure. For those who finished the first season and are waiting for the next season, it has been announced that season 2 will be released in Fall 2022!
3. My Hero Academia Season 5
In a world where more than half of the population has superpowers, also known as quirks, Midoriya Izuku was born without a quirk and yet his biggest dream was to become a superhero like his idol, All Might.
Midoriya ends up meeting All Might and with his idol’s help, he passes the entrance exam for U.A. High School, the number one high school for superheroes in Japan, and learns how to become a great superhero, while experiencing high school life and fighting enemies alongside his classmates from class 1A.
In season five, there are more plot twists than ever, including some of the true identities of the main villains being revealed and the said-to-be the best arc of MHA—My Villain Academia. This is when many of the recurring villains’ backgrounds are introduced.
But don’t worry! Season 6 is on the way! Moreover, before that, the latest movie, My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Missions, will come out at the end of October. Midoriya, one of the kindest characters in the anime, is being accused of murder. WHAT IS HAPPENING?
Coming Anime:
- Demon Slayer Season 2

It’s here! Ufotable’s signature anime Demon Slayer season 2 is happening in December this year. The plot of the second season will begin on the timeline after the Mugen Train incident. Tanjiro and his fellow demon slayers will assist the Sound Hashira fight one of the “Twelve Kizuki,” which are the 12 most powerful demons in their world.
Is that all? Of course not! Lots of people have been asking whether the movie Demon Slayer: Mugen Train will be adapted to an anime arc. In fact, it is airing right now! There are seven episodes of the Mugen Train Arc, the first one being a never-seen-before plot about the Flame Hashira’s, Rengoku Kyojirou’s journey before getting on the Mugen Train, and the rest of the six episodes will be the same plot as the movie with new background music. The first episode is released on October 10th in Japan, updating every week, and could be streamed on Crunchyroll and Funimation in the US right now. Go watch Rengoku ASAP!!
2. Attack on Titan: Final Season Part II

To be honest, I can’t be the only one tricked by Attack on Titan: Final Season right? After more than a year since part one was first released, part two of the final season is coming out in Jan. 2022. Attack on Titan is no doubt one of the best and most classic anime of all time. The manga ended this April, after 11 years and seven months since its making. If you are a manga reader like me, you’ll understand how delicately the whole story was depicted. Yet, the anime version has been epic as well with the famous theme songs and beautiful animation. Attack on Titan is definitely the most anticipated anime of this coming winter! For those who started watching AOT from the beginning, it is going to be emotional! As of the last season, Eren’s next move is yet unknown after a huge fight with Armin and Mikasa, with Levi badly injured in the fight. Guess we’ll find out very soon what is happening next. Manga readers, NO SPOILER! (I’m trying so hard not to spoil it right now).
3. Jujutsu Kaisen 0
Mappa, the studio which produced Jujutsu Kaisen season 1, announced the movie “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” right before the airing of the season finale on Mar. 26. The movie will be based on episode 0 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga. Instead of continuing to illustrate Itadori Yuuji’s life with Sukuna living in his body, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 serves as a prequel to the whole plot. The movie will focus on a character named Okkotsu Uta, who was briefly mentioned in season one as an honorable upperclassman of the Tokyo Jujutsu High. The movie will be released on Dec. 24 this year in Japan (two days after Fushiguro Megumi’s birthday!). We are not sure yet if the movie will also be released in U.S. theaters. However, with its popularity in the states, it is very likely we’ll be able to see Gojo Sensei and the fellow students in Jujutsu High in the theater! Moreover, we shall expect an announcement for Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 maybe after the movie is released. Season 2 will probably include the “Shibuya Incident,” a major battle between the curses and the sorcerers. The incident would have a huge impact on Yuuji and the people around him. But for now, let’s not worry about it just yet and be ready for Okkotsu Uta senpai’s story!
